Traditional Slovenian Breakfast in Tokyo
Tokyo - 20 November 2015: Today Embassy of Slovenia served 'Traditional Slovenian Breakfast' to students' age between two and six of the SOMOS International School in Tokyo.
The main purpose of the event attended by some fifty kids, their siblings, parents and the school teachers was to educate and raise the awareness of the youngest on the importance of healthy breakfast for our eating habits, the importance of locally produced food, and the importance of beekeeping and agriculture.
Kids were served home-baked bread with butter and honey (imported from Slovenia), an apple and a cup of milk. The project was well received by the children saying that honey is true heavenly sweet food.
The traditional Slovenian breakfast project was initiated by the Slovenian beekeeping Association, and later joined by various Ministries and Chambers. It is served in kindergartens and elementary schools around Slovenia, and beyond its borders, every third Friday in November. A traditional Slovenian breakfast consists of slice of bread, butter, honey, an apple and cup of milk.
