Bilateral consultations between Minister for Digital Transformation Mark Boris Andrijanič and Minister for Digitisation of Japan H.E. Mrs. Karen Makishima, 15 February 2022
The two Ministers exchanged views on the work of the Government Office for Digital Transformation and the Japanese Digitisation Agency and assessed that there are many similarities and opportunities to share good practices.
They highlighted the importance of digitisation and artificial intelligence in various fields, with a focus on healthcare, care for the elderly and green technologies.
They agreed that strengthening the digital skills of the whole population is of paramount importance. Particular attention must be paid to vulnerable groups. Mr Andrijanič presented the activities and actions of the Digital Transformation Service, e.g. digital vouchers. Minister Makishima very much welcomed the activities and said that this confirms that Japan is also moving in the right direction, as they are planning similar solutions.
They also touched upon the possibility of cooperation in the context of the planned International Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence and the Three Seas Initiative.
